These thirty sonatas are collectively entitled Essercizi and were the first published works of Scarlatti. They appeared in 1738 and it is a striking biographical fact that previous to this, in the composer's 53rd year, no Scarlatti compositions exist that would have elevated him to his present level of historical importance. The sonatas are arranged for Solo keyboard.
